Steve Bicker's 1973 442

steve73.jpg (33453 bytes)

I purchased this 73 442 from a local classic car lot in 1985. It was Zodiac blue white stripes white bench seat interior with a 350 engine turbo 350 trans and a non posi rearend. Over the last ten years the car has been 4 different colors and a lot of driveline changes. As you see it here, it has had a frame off restification . The color is electric currant red with opal frost stripes, which are patterned after the 73 Hurst Olds. The frame and under hood area is medium titanium poly. The underside of the body is painted electric currant red also. The interior has swivel bucket seats in a two tone gray pattern with a console and Hurst dual gate shifter and factory rally pack gages. The engine is a 455 bored .030 0ver with Ross flat top pistons. Block has been align bored, parallel decked. The crank was ground .010 under on rods and mains completely detailed and the heat treated. Rods were completely reworked and bushed on small end with pin oilers added. The “C” heads were competition ported, heat risers filled, exhaust divider added in middle exhaust ports and sever duty stainless valves. I went with competition cams roller rockers with 7/16 studs, 3/8push rods and a 600 lift 320 duration competitions cams solid lifter cam. The whole assembly was completely balanced and a offenhauser dual quad manifold with 500 cfm performer carbs added. Hooker super competition 1 7/8 headers with a complete 3” exhaust. The engine makes 510 H.P. at 6000 R.P.M. The engine is backed by a turbo 400 trans built to B&M specs with a 3500 stall converter and a G.M. 10 bolt posi rear end with 4:10 gears.
